  • You must "activate" (Composter) it before boarding—tap the button in the app
  • If your phone dies, you can print a paper voucher at the station’s yellow composting machine (Composteur)
  • Show the QR code to the conductor for scanning

3. Rail pass (Pass)

When using an Eurail or Interrail pass:

  • You must write the travel date on the pass (in blue or black ink)

Pitfall Avoidance Guide

  1. Always buy early: European train tickets bought 2–3 months in advance can be 50–70% cheaper
  2. Confirm whether reservation is required: High-speed trains (TGV, ICE, Frecciarossa, AVE) require reservations; regional trains usually do not
  3. Save your PNR / Localizador: This is your booking credential—screenshot it
  4. Download official apps: SNCF Connect, DB Navigator, Trenitalia, SBB Mobile, Renfe
  5. Allow transfer time: European station transfers usually need 10–15 minutes; large stations (e.g., Paris Gare du Nord) need 20 minutes
  6. Keep paper backup: Even with an e-ticket, print a paper copy as backup
